I picked up Kimball's Kiss because I was looking for something a little different. I used to read a lot of science fiction, but as of late my reading has been mostly romance novels.The book takes place on an Earth in the distant future, or at least that is how I preceived it. The Earth that young Gramham lives on is nothing ours. It is almost a shell of its former self. Space travel is now possible although not as easy as it once since the ships have started to fall into disrepair. Regardless Gramham withdraws the little money he has and sets out for his uncle.
And then things get interesting....
Overall I found this book enjoyable. It was well thought out and a good escape read. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who enjoy sci-fi. I hope the author has more books planned.

This book really intrigued me and I fell in love with Graham right away. He started off as a proper lad and captured what being a teenager in north England is like with the extra twist of it being much further in the future and much more run down. It helped make the book so believable.
The book was also incredibly well written. The style just flowed and was effortless to read. I found hours passed with me being absorbed into the book and the lives of the characters.
I did find a few things bothered me a little. I realised it was part of the main races way of life but I found there was a little too much sex for my liking. It wasn't overly described or anything and was actually well written. It felt mostly part of the plot and therefore necessary but there were a few times when I felt like I wanted things to progress beyond that, almost move to the next level of the strategy kind of thing.
I also found myself a little confused at the ending. I didn't really get much of a sense of closure and I'm hoping that's because there is a sequel but I've not found mention of one yet.
This book started well, and I like the premise of a found spaceship, and old legends come to life, I also enjoyed the character development... then all of a sudden it became very explicit sexually in a manner I found deeply offensive. this should not be in science fiction, it should be in the adult section. It describes Gay sex, and exploitation very graphically and I think there should be some kind of warning, don't read this book, unless you like gay porn disguised as science fiction.
